It’s official… boys are reading and liking my books too! The new website has been getting lots of great feedback from boy readers as well as girls… yay!
OK, it takes an especially cool boy to read a sparkly-type book. The covers are pretty girly, I admit, but the stories really aren’t… and lads are waking up to that! Besides, if boy readers take a few tips from characters like Kian, Finn, Carter & Paul, that’s good news all round!
So… what do boys really think?

Although I’m a boy, I still enjoy your books. Scarlett is a very good book – sad, happy, romantic and funny. Also, it won the ‘John Lewis Solihull Children’s Book Award’ which was voted for by children. I voted for Scarlett to win – of course!

Kids at school have seen me reading your books, and said “Woooo, look who’s reading a girl’s book!” So I’d like to ask if you could write a book based on a boy to show them that your the best kids author ever !!!

Ok, I’ll admit it. I am a boy. So what? So… I cried. Because of a book. So…WHO CARES?! I LOVE THIS BOOK! The ending was magical, and that was where I cried. This book is brilliant. I loved every bit of it.

I usually read fantasy books but picked up my sister’s Driftwood a while ago and that was it – hooked. The story was so real and I could totally see where Kit was coming from. I’ve read Scarlett and Sundae Girl too, and can’t wait for Lucky Star. Might have to fight my sister for it!
So… are my books just for girls, or should boys read them too? Let me know what YOU think!

Hi Cathy i think that its gr8 that boys r reading yr books!! I was suprised i didn’t think boys had much emotion in their hearts!! But they have proved me wrong!! It just goes to say that the saying is true ‘Never judge a book by its cover!’ Luv Emz xx
I think your books are really good and so addictive, I read them in less than a day, ALWAYS. They are really good so keep writing more! Yeh sure, so boys read your books? It shouldn’t really matter! They are really good stories about real situtuations. Everyone should read them, boy or girl!
Hiya. Once i saw a boy in my class reading scarlett and a boy sitting next to him said this “Why are you reading a girls book, girly girl!.” I couldn’t beleive that he was reading it. But i could see he was enjoying it!

Boys read books to, there are book for girls, books for boys and books that suite both girls and boys! There is books out there and they all suite different people depending on there gender, taste and age!
I love your books they are FAB and i can’t wait for Lucky Star! I think that the books are just as much for girls that they are boys, it is just ppls taste and just because more girls read them it shudn’t stop boys!!! You are a Fab author Cathy don’t ever stop writing!!

wow I can not put any of your book down and I think its great that guys are reading them because then they understand what girls think about and be a greater guy. Then they can help us get through stuff!
I am reading ‘sundae girl’. It is brilliant and really cool. I can’t wait to finish it but it is also sooooo good that I want it to last forever! I will just have to borrow ‘love, peace and chocolate’ from my friend.
Your books are great! If girls only read them it would spoil all the fun! I bet even aliens would read them cause there so great!These books are for girls AND boys. They can touch everyone in some way.Boys should read them and even cry if they feel like it. You shouldnt care what people think. CATHY U ROCK DNT EVER STOP WRITING!!!

But people are so sterotypical about boys and girls. Are boys really meant to be hooked on sports and have disgusting habbits?
Are girls meant to be attached to pink and make-up.
I think boys should be able to read all the books they want without every going ‘ohh look who’s a little girl ooo wow your a dork your reading a book!’ I’m 12 and i know kids can be so mean! I think boys should be able to read whatever! And the same with girls!
Boys would love these books just as much as girls! If you want to read them no one should stop you! Dont judge a book by its cover boys! It may look girly but it is different on the inside!
