COMPS ARE COOL!
Tuesday 26th March 2013
It’s all go at Puffin HQ this week as the team sift through the FANTABULOUS entries for the Could You Be Coco competition… drawing up a shortlist of ten is NOT going to be easy! Once the finalists have been selected and informed, I’ll be getting involved too, helping the team to pick our wonderful winner. SOOOO excited!
That winner will be starring as Coco in her very own episodes of CathyCassidyTV very soon… how cool? I love that you are all enjoying CCTV so much, btw… have you seen the brand new v-log from Summer this week? It tells you just what happened behind the scenes at Summer & Skye’s joint 13th birthday party, when Skye got lost in the snow. You can watch it here – and remember to comment to be in with a chance of winning this week’s £10 New Look voucher.
I love doing lots of comps, freebies and giveaways both on the website and on my Facebook Fanpage… but not everyone approves. Last week I had an upsetting message from a reader who feels I should stop doing comps because ‘people would only be disappointed,’ and advising me to find a professional actress for Coco. I couldn’t reply, as the reader didn’t give me her name or email. :o(
If she is reading, I’d like her to know I genuinely think one of my cool and talented readers will be perfect for the role of Coco. If none of us took risks, entered comps or went all-out to try to make our dreams happen, surely the world would be a sadder, duller, less hopeful place? If I hadn’t tried to make MY dream happen, there’d be no CC books, f’r’instance. And sure, not everybody can win every comp, but the way I see it is that you can have fun trying and learn along the way that it’s the TAKING PART that counts, not the end result.
I guess the answer is that nobody HAS to enter a comp if they don’t want to, but what do YOU reckon? Should I keep on doing comps? (I need to know because the annual My Best Friend Rocks comp is looming in the summer!) Tell me what you think…
I think u should still carry on! It’s the taking part that counts, and trying your best!!!!!
I love reading your books so dont dare put down that pen!
lots of love

I think you should definitely continue with comps because I they’re really fun. If you really can’t stand being disappointed, don’t enter. xxxxxx
Hi Cathy x If I’m being honest the poster had a point! I would’ve loved to play Coco, except I only found out the Monday before the comp closed. I know it’s too late but I am sad, as oppurtunities are hard to come by when you want to be an actress! Biggest Fan Ever – Lxxxxx
@ Anon, think you have misunderstood Gabbie’s post – she is not saying YOU have been rejected, but that SHE understands what it feels like. Her comment is friendly and I don’t think any apology is needed, but will delete the part of it that you object to. I will not publish any comments that try to provoke a row, especially when no offence is intended… can we all calm down and try to be positive and friendly? xxx
@ Cathy Cassidy sure thing.
Everything has just been up the wall latley that’s all.
p.s. Could u post an extract or sneek peek of sweet honey plz.
Hi Cathy!!
I think u should definitely keep doing your awesome comps! I think comps are about getting to do fun, interesting things and even if I don’t win it doesn’t mean I can’t try another one! Me & my BFF entered the My Best Friend Rocks comp last year, and even though we didn’t win we saw how good the winners were and what we needed to do better the next time! So please please please do it again next year, and of course other different comps too Cathy!
Keep dreaming, keep writing, and don’t forget to eat chocolate too! Ava 🙂
@ Lucie, sadly the closing date was FRIDAY and the comp is now closed. As you can see from this blog, Puffin are now drawing up a shortlist and will inform finalists soon. I am sorry if you missed the comp, but it was advertised for 5 weeks beforehand on the Facebook fanpage, the website blog, the CCTV youtube channel and the newsletter. It is important to check the website regularly so as not to miss out – so sorry you didn’t get a chance to try out this time.
xxx
@ Anon, I cannot post a taster of Sweet Honey as have only just begun to write it. Tasters usually appear a month beforehand so this time next year is more realistic. Coco Caramel is the next book. xxx
@ Cathy Cassidy
Cool thing can’t wait for both have all the chocolate box girls in hard back and I have bittersweet and I have the while daizy star series . But the first ever book I read was dizzy and I <3 <3 <3 it!!!!!!
I sent in a question in the ask Cathy box months ago and this was the question
Jacqueline Wilson has a magazine that I buy every time it comes out, have U ever considered on having ur own magazine?????
For ideas if U think its a good idea U should realy check the official Jacqueline Wilson mag
Oh and I was looking on eBay today and scrolled down to find that someone was selling a Cathy Cassidy d.s. Game. Is it true U have a d.s. Game and if so were can I buy it???
I can’t wait to see who Coco is. She’s such an interesting character and i hope the winner plays her to be just as fun. I’d love to see a vlog with them ALL in too, the way they will interact with each other would be fun to watch and even more fun to act. Honey, the tower princess, Skye, the historical wonder, Summer, the dancing queen, Cherry, the kimono beauty, and Coco, the little Tiger of the group, keeping them all sain (well partly) :))
