Driftwood

Can Hannah stop her friends from drifting apart?

‘I feel like I’m losing my best mate . . .’

Hannah and Joey have been best friends forever – just the two of them. But when Joey’s new foster brother, Paul, turns up, everything changes. First Joey falls for Hannah’s brother, Kit. Then Paul complicates things – with some kittens, a chocolate bar and a stripy pink bicycle.

Hannah’s world is turning upside down. Can you rescue a friendship when it’s drowning? Can you save a friend in trouble – if they don’t want to be saved?

  4. Absolutely magical. I borrowed it from a good friend and I had to force myself to give it back. It takes a lot of skill to make somebody feel the way Cathy makes you feel. I would recommend it to everyone I know.

  5. This probably has to be my most favourite book out of them all. I love this book because I can relate to most of the characters, like Hannah. Hannah is trying to pick up the pieces and work out what is going on. I also relate to Kit because sometimes I can be really arrogant (but I like him at the end because he learns his lesson.) Thank-you Cathy Cassidy for writing this amazing book – you really have captured the hearts of 10, 11 and 12 year-olds.

  8. This book was so well written. I actually felt like I couldn’t put the book down! In homework session, me and my friends sit next to eachother and giggle the whole way through, but I couldn’t bring myself to leave this fascinating story; so I was reading and crying and laughing though the book, whilst all my mates were staring daggers at me because I made them all shut up! Soon, all of my mates were reading the book and enjoying it just as much as I did!
I especially enjoyed reeading about Paul. I could completely understand why Hannah fell for him, he’s so dreamy it really made me think.
