Driftwood

Can Hannah stop her friends from drifting apart?

‘I feel like I’m losing my best mate . . .’

Hannah and Joey have been best friends forever – just the two of them. But when Joey’s new foster brother, Paul, turns up, everything changes. First Joey falls for Hannah’s brother, Kit. Then Paul complicates things – with some kittens, a chocolate bar and a stripy pink bicycle.

Hannah’s world is turning upside down. Can you rescue a friendship when it’s drowning? Can you save a friend in trouble – if they don’t want to be saved?

  2. Driftwood was a brilliant book. When I was reading it I couldn’t put it down! I read it about 6 months ago and I still sometimes go to the library and borrow it out. The characters are so original and yet they are so different. Joey was an out going girl and wanted to let people know what she was and wwasn’t going to do. Hannah was the type of character where you just can’t help feeling her uphappiness and joy, and she was such a likeable person. Paul was such an easy going person, until he was bullied. He was different from the other boys who featured in this book such as Kit. Paul showed Hannah a different way to dream, and it helped her character grow through out this book. Over all I loved it!

  5. Driftwood was fantastic! I absolutely adored it. I lent it to a friend, who I knew was being bullied, and it made her realise how serious bullying was. She told sombody, and the bullying stopped. The characters seemed so real, it was like a little movie in my head. My paper back is so worn out, when I read it now, I always have to be careful because I have read it so many times I’m afraid it will fall apart!

  6. Hey Cathy! I loved Driftwood because I really love collecting sheels and Driftwood. Jo’s dad is really clever to be able to make all cool things out of driftwood shells and other stuff. And did Paul Slater give that Valentines card to Hannah or not?

  10. I loved this book. It had alot of detail and as soon as i started it i could tell that it was going to be a exceptionaly good book. It is really gripping and it makes you think carefully about the consequences of bullying. I have all of your books and now i have read them all once i want to read them all again. I will probably will not get bored of them. I really want you to write more books because they are sure to be as great as your other 7 books.
