Dizzy

Will her secret birthday wish come true?

‘I never sleep, the night before my birthday . . . it’s the only day of the year I hear from her . . .’

Dizzy’s mum left when she was small. But every year, on her birthday, something arrives in the post – a present or a card with her mum’s loopy writing on it. Dizzy has kept everything.

This year is different. Nothing comes in the post, but something amazing is about to arrive on Dizzy’s doorstep. Something that will whisk her away – and put Dizzy’s world in a spin.

  3. Dizzy still remains my favourite book two years from reading it for the first time. I reread it a lot! And it never fails to make me cry, which is quite an acomplishment because I never cry because of books.

  6. I loved Dizzy!! Thank you sooo much Cathy, as this book gave me inspiration to write my first proper novel. I loved Finn and Mouse in it and of course Dizzy. It just shows that you have got some sort of family wherever you go!!

  7. Dizzy is an very exciting and funny story.I love the way Cathy uses names which means part of the story, like ‘Dizzy’, because the girl’s “world goes into a spin”.
When it all goes wrong Dizzy thinks the place she ends up in is quite weird.
    Its a GREAT book!!!

  10. First Cathy book I ever read, and it make such an impact on my reading style. I used to just go for fantasy stuff and sci-fi (still go for Doctor Who) but I’m hooked on your books! I’ve always dreamt of living in a teepee in Scotland (I’m obsessed with Scotland, don’t ask) and I know what it’s like to feel abandoned.

Mouse is the cutest character, he has to be my favourite out of all the books, and his addiction to Mars Bars reminds me of one of my best friends (who never forgave me for nicknaming her Mouse).

Overall, I love this book, and now I too have a pinboard with special things on; a leaf from Spain and a David Tennant poster to name but a few πŸ˜‰ xx
