Angel Cake

Will Anya’s new beginning have a happy ending?

‘I’m excited about moving, but scared as well . . .’

Anya used to dream of moving to Britain to start a brand-new life. But as she sits in a school where nobody understands her, she dreams of Polish summer skies and the place where she once belonged.

Then Anya meets bad boy Dan. He’s no angel, but she’s sure there’s a sweeter side to him. And when things begin to fall apart, Anya realizes she’s not alone – how can Dan be such bad news when being with him feels like heaven?

  4. I really enjoyed this book. I thought the best bit was when Anya didn’t have to move back to Krakrow. My favourite character was Frankie because she has a great sense of humour. The bit that suprised me was when Lily kissed Dan. I couldn’t put the book down .I am now reading Cherry Crush which i am enjoying just as much.

  6. I like this book because it has foreign people in it and you can understand how hard it is for them. Anya sort of relies on her friends Frankie and Kurt, not forgetting Cheesey. But every person has an enemy for Anya, it’s Lily Caldwell. And of course, there’s a romance between Anya and Dan. It reminds me of how hard it is when I fall out with my friends but I never do anymore thanks to my best pal, Maisy B (Gymnast maniac)!

  7. i loved this book because it made me realisehow hard it must be for forign kids to move to this country and it reminds you that bad kids act like that for a reason and there is always a sweeter side somewhere

  8. I am reading this book at the moment – and so far so good!!!I’m not that far into it, but I’m up to the bit where Dan is selling cupcakes on the street with angel wings. The way you described as an extremely bad boy, and then the way Anya feels about him in the angel costume was incredible! I don’t want the book to end!

  9. I think Angel Cake was BRILLIANT! I loved the way Cathy described everything in such a detailed way, and made me understand how it feels to move. Actually, a Polish girl moved into my school! I fell in love with Dan, and, just like Anya, I see how sweet he is. I think Angel Cake is the best book I’ve ever read.
