Summer has always dreamed of dancing, and when a place at ballet school comes up, she wants it so badly it hurts.
Middle school ends and the holidays begin, but unlike her sisters, Summer has no time for lazy days and sunny beach parties. The audition becomes her obsession, and things start spiralling out of control . . .
The more Summer tries to find perfection, the more lost she becomes. Will she realise – with the help of the boy who wants more than friendship – that dreams come in all shapes and sizes?

I just read Summers Dream, my first Cathy Cassidy book, and now I know that I have to read all the other chocolate box girls books! I have a very special dream which is literally impossible, but this book inspired me to keep on trying, whatever the odds!
I think Skye is my fave, but i love Summer and Coco too.
A real problem solver book too, great for worried tweens who are scared about relationships with boys and their own bodies.

Summers dream is an amazing book! The story is touching and powerful and fantastic! I love the chocolate box girls. I admire Summer because even though she is shy, she never gives up. I like Cherry because she has a wild imagination (like me) and gets in trouble for it. (also like me). I like skye because she is smiley and cheerful and one of a kind. Coco is great because she knows what she wants to do and both of us LOVE animals and want to change the world! I like Honey because she is sad, but remains strong hopeful. I love reading all books and writing and want to be an author.

I love this story I’m so like summer. I thought I was like Skye till I read this. It happened to me for the same reason and you should not try it. I’m on pointes and was going to a ballet school. I love you books shoud I send my books to be sighned
There is no word in the dictionary to describe the amount of how much i love this book. I have recommended it to many of my friends. I have finished it about 5 or 6 times in a day! I was completely absorbed in this book from the first chapter. Cathy Cassidy hits you right in the face with every chapter ending, leaving you quickly scrabbling through the pages to find out what would happen next. Each chapter is quite short and sharp and you find yourself holding your breath in between turning to the next one! I would also recommend Gingersnaps, Marshmallow Skye and Cherry Crush – they are all my favorite. Any local or school library should have ALL of Cathy Cassidy’s books!
