Happy National Best Friend’s Day everyone. I’m hosting a party this afternoon at my local bookshop. They have decorated the window with bunting and posters. My mum has made cupcakes and we’ve got lots of goodies to give away. It’s going to be fab. We got an article in the local paper yesterday with my photo, so I hope that will get lots of people to come. Will be taking lots of photos for you to see. Dear Cathy, Hiya, im Rebecca and I am a HUGE fan of yours so, I decided to travel to my favourite waterstones in Durham (prince bishops) to celebrate the best friends day with my best friend my mum. Also to participate in their events and purchase the angel cake book. However when I arrived there was only 1 activity on, designing a flag for the walls but, as I am 12, it was un apropriate for me, unfortunatly. So I left the shop with the book disapointed. I expected somthing a bit better as on the leaflet it sounded very good, with mizz and other companies involved, and turned out to be a wasted journey. Maybe in the future I can meet you and have a better day. P.s so far I lOVe the book thanks.

Went to another signing today. You may know I and my friends as the nutters you met last week at waterstones in bluewater. Sadly one of my best mates went to an old people’s party(?) and the other went to a treasure hunt down in old london town. Eavie came with me and her sister, Tabby stayed at home. Sadly waterstones didnt give out any prizes. We did try and do random acts of kindness, but it wasn’t really working. Eavie bought a mushroom pin badge. All in all a great day of friendship!!!!

I don’t think you’re ever too old to have a dream, and there are lots of ideas for creating cool dream flags on the GROOVY page of my website… lots of Year 8s have been making Dream Flags this week on my school visits! Every single Waterstones store had a whole boxful of sweet treats, mags, books and goodies to give away to random customers, so although you weren’t lucky this time, I know some readers will have been… and I am very grateful to Waterstones for helping to make NBFD such fun, all around the country.

Hi Cathy, I am a BIG fan. Talking about fans I certainly am a BIG fan of my best friend Lily. I was sooooo sad when I moved school because she cried and I cried but we both had a shoulder to cry on. Each others! We always arrange dates to meet each other and we go shopping and funfairs and have a great time with each other. We have been the best of friends since playgroup and we are now in year six going to move into year seven in September. Even though we are sadly not going to the same secondary school we will always spend time with each other. I love my best friend sooooooooo much. I would of came to Waterstones but I couldn’t. I have quite alot of friends but im not sure who’s my best , so im going to dedicate this letter to Rebecca King , we havn’t been friends long because shes moved down from london and i was meant to have an operation and we went to the cinema to watch Night In The Museum 2 and she asked me why i was having an operation , and i told her and her ex best-friend had a go at her and she wasn’t going to let her talk about me behind my back so she stood up for me.

Thats the best thing anyone has ever done for me , and i love her to bits :)

We had so much fun at the cinema it was unbelievable time just flew by.

I live in Australia so my time is a little bit different, but my BFFL and I still had an awesome Best Friends Day. She slept at my house on Saturday night and we made Finn’s Fantastic Choc n Orange Cakes. On Sunday we went to another friend’s birthday party at a fun park with 3 other girls from our close circle of friends. It was so much fun! We went on all the scary rollercoasters and other stuff too. It was a great NBFD !

my friends are i we’re on music camp so we didn’t do anything special for that, but a big buncg of girls from yr 8(including me) dressed up for the homemade costumes fashion show. we had foil tops and highwaisted crape paper skirts. lots of the older kids did skits in thier costumes then everyone at the camp devided into 8 groups and made up rutines to 80s songs i was dancing to love shack.

My best friend and I decided to catch the bus into town yesterday to celebrate NBFD in the park’s bandstand with a few cakes from the bakery and a bottle of Pepsi….but it rained!! So me and her ended up spending 3 hours waiting out the bad weather under the toddler’s play area, with Evanescence and old 70’s music like Squeeze, Tom Robinson and The Boomtown Rats blasting from our mobiles!! Hi Cathy! Tommorows my last day of school and 3 of my BFFS are moving (to the same school)school!! I am SOOO upset about it! But we’ve promise to keep in-touch, after all, all of us have either MSN and/or email! And the 2 schools are right next to each other!! I was actually planning to have a sleepover with my 4 BFFS on Best Friends Day, but i had NO IDEA when it was, and i came on to find out, only to find that it was today!!! So that was a no go! My best friends are called : Kudzai, Florence, Anisha and Sumeet. Anishas staying at the same school as me! Although they are all my BFFZ everyones got to have favourite, and mine is Kudzai, and everyone knows it, she is my true BFF ! We met in the most strange way cos’, to start of we were NOT good friends at all, but then me and my other best friend (who isnt a BFF any more, soz emily!) and she asked to play with me, but that was 2 years ago, and our friendship came from then, so i guess ive gotta thank emily, so TYVM emily!Me and Kudzai have only ever had 2 fights! I went on Holiday with my best friend this weekend. I totally 4got it was Friendship Day but we had an awesome time! Saturday was spent playing with the twins, (who are her younger sisters) sunbathing at the conker tree, riding our bikes and then getting wet when it started to rain…oh and staying outside until 11.30 pm. My favourite book is Ginger snaps and i luv sam’s character. I also luv Lucky Star and Dizzy. Mouse is really cute and Finn is soooo cool. Dizzy has made me want to travel around the UK and see all the festivals.

Any way, keep writing coz your a wicked writer and your books are so communicative to the youth of the world and they should be made into movies. Hiya Cathy!! I had such fun meeting you, but anyway, onto Nation Best Friends Day.

My total BFFL is called Gursharin ( we call her Sharin) and mine and her nicknames are Saz (me) and Shaz (her). We have been BFFLs since Year 3 and now we are nearly in Year 8 (5 yrs). So I love you babe!! Thank you Shaz x

Next up is my second BFFL , we only met in Year 7 so we have been BFFLs for 1 year. It was her last day of school today because she goes on holiday after today and then it’s the summer holidays. I have two to-die-for best friends!!! One of them is called Aisha and she’s really fun, and I love hanging out with her! The other one’s called Julia and I get on with her really well!!! I love my best friend Mia. We finished school on Thursday, but sadly shes going to a different school from me. I cried sooo much when we left school ! i have three best friends called Tilly,Ellie and Toni and they all go 2 different schools. Only one of them goes 2 my school. one of them i dont realy see that much cause she lives far away, one of them i see every day, and one of them lives on my street.

when i was younger and i had 2 move school i was realy upset i had 2 leave all of my friends, and my best friends.And now i have made new best friends and i still keep in touch with my old ones. I will never forget them even if i never see them again.

Umm just wanted to say that i hav finished reading Angel Cake now and it is the most amazing book!! ahh i luv ur books!! I have all of them except for Cupcakes and Kisses. It sucks because i can’t get the book becasue i don’t live in England i am soooo jealous of all the people that live in england!!

Anyway i luv all of your books and my sister does too!!

And i’d also like to say that anyone who hasn’t read any or all of the Cathy cassidy books should definately read them and i highly recommend them…. in fact i can’t recommend them to anyone enough!!

by the way, Cathy, you are an amazing writer and the way your books are written makes it really easy to connect witht he characters and feel their emotions. Your books are written in a way that are like you are actually standing their, with the character watching it all happen!!
