Terms and Conditions:

  1. This Competition is open to entrants worldwide up to and including the age of 16, who must have the express permission of a parent or guardian. Employees of the Promoter, those immediately related to employees of the Promoter or anyone else connected with this promotion will not be allowed to participate in this promotion.
  2. Entries must be received by 31st August 2011. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, illegible or fail to reach the promoter by the relevant closing date for any reason.
  3. To enter the competition, an entrant must send a story (1000 words or less) or a poem. Entrants must send their entry via the Writing Workshop at http://www.cathycassidy.com/you/enter_the_writing_workshop. Only one entry per person. Entries via third parties and agents are invalid.
  4. All entries must be the entrant’s own, original, unaided work.
  5. The winner will be the entry that complies with the entry criteria and that in the opinion of the judge (Cathy Cassidy) is the best piece of writing. The decision of the judge will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. For each writing workshop there will be 5 winners, who will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date.
  7. The prize for the winning entrants will be items of stationery e.g. mouse mat, pens, notebooks, pencil cases.
  8. The winner must claim their prize within 30 days of the promoter sending notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with the competition rules.
  9. The prize is not transferable for a cash alternative. Events may occur that render the promotion itself impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter. The Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and prizes and the winner agrees that no liability shall attach itself to the Promoter, provided that any prizes shall not be of lesser value than the ones advertised.
  10. Each entrant grants the Promoter a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, world-wide licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute and display any content submitted in any format now known or later developed. If you do not want to grant us these rights, please do not submit materials to us. Each entrant under the age of 18 will ensure that they obtain such permission from their parent/guardian granting the same licence. Further, the entrant (or their parent or guardian if under the age of 18) warrants to the Promoter that all parts of their entry are original, and made without the inclusion of material owned by any third party.
  11. The winner agrees to take part in reasonable post-event publicity and to the use of their names and photographs in such publicity. This includes posting entries online on www.cathycassidy.com.
  12. The Promoter will use any data submitted by entrants only for the purposes of running the competition, unless otherwise stated in the entry details.
  13. By entering the competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
