Indigo Blue
A real adventure. A true friend. Meet . . . Indigo Blue
Bluebells, bluebirds, blue skies, blue jeans… Indigo’s mum loves the colour blue. It’s the colour of all her favourite things.
When Mum announces that they’re moving – just Indie, Mum and baby Misti – Indie doesn’t understand. Why the hurry? Where are they going? Will her best friend, Jo, still be there for her?
In a dingy old flat with a grumpy neighbour, no heating and only biscuits to eat, Indie begins to realize that her mum’s got a reason for running away. A secret no one can admit…
Listen to Cathy read an extract!

Indigo Blue is really exiting. it shows you just how some peoples lifes are- having to hide away from people who don’t love you. Indie goes to live in a manky old flat with her mum and sister, Misty. They try to make the falat look better by using cheep things. indigo blue gives you a mixture of feelings, and makes you think how lucky you are.

If you like a good story then you won’t be able to put this book down! When Indigo moves away from her dad she feels as if she can’t cope but
just as she is getting used to her new enviroment, Indigo sees her dad again on the way home from school! Before long, Indigo and her mums
house feels like a home and if you like a happy ending, with ups and downs in the middle, then this is the book to pick up and not put down!!

Indigo blue was the first cathy cassidy book that i ever read. It
inspired me and taught me how lucky i am. It showed me what real
friendship was all about and how to deal with what life throws your way!
Its a great book to be proud of! Indigo is a very brave girl but
eventually things get to much for her and she finds she cant rely on her
best mate jo , anymore so what does she do? give up? not care? no she
tries her hardest for her sake and her little sister misti’s sake, she
tries to hold the family together and eventually her effort pays off.
Her life goes from great to bad back to great again this rollacoaster of
a book is fascinating…

In my opinion, although the books are mostly catered for a younger lot, I find them highly inspiring. I loved every single one of them, especially Indigo Blue and Driftwood. They’re just the kind of books one would love to have on a dreary, rainy day. Without realizing it, we are actually picking up moral values along the way. Lovely and colourful.

i really love this book.its relly really good and its kinda sad that mum got hit by max’s and misti and indie hand to sufer…but other than that i think that all kinds should read this book becuase it shows alot about kids that need help when times are rough.
Michelle, age 10
I think Indigo/Indie is really pitiful and I know lots of people will sympathize for her. Her family is broken up. Her mum, Anna, broke up with Max, Indigo’s stepfather and her baby sister Misti’s father. Indigo and her Mum and Misti run away and stayed at 33 Harrington Drive, a small basement and are proud 3 rents of three easy chairs, two bed rooms and two bedrooms.Max is pretty annoying, hunting Anna down. Anna’s friend, Jane helped them to get through the rough time. Anna found a job in the supermarket. Mr. Turner(the guy who stays above them)likes Anna as he helps them also to get through the rough time. Indigo also has to survive with her best friend Jo dissing her with another boy, Shane. Then the play Oliver! comes. Indigo wins the part with Aisha, a girl that is Jo’s friend. Indigo decides to be best friends with Aisha and break up with Jo who plays silly pay-back games to Indigo. In the end, Max found Anna and asks her out for dinner. They argued. Max assaulted Anna and landed her in hospital while Indigo freaks out. Indigo’s gran from Wales came and got them out from the dingy basement flat and they went to stay in Wales for the summer. Indigo comes back, going to Kellway’s Comphrehensive. With Aisha. She makes up with Jo and now they are friends again…
Lucy, age 12
Indigo Blue is a book about a girl, who doesn’t know her dad, and she just has her mum and her little sister. Indigo grows up with fear, for her little sister, Misti, fater, has abused her mother. They move away from Max, Misti’s dad, but Max keeps following them. Max asks Anna, Indigo’s mum, to go out to talkk things over, but he ends up abusing her more. They go to Wales to their Gran for the Summer, and then when the go back, they can finally have some peace, living out of fear.
Indigo Blue is a gripping book, it shows the emotions of all the characters during their time of Hell.
I give this book 10 ut of 10 and 5 stars out of 5. *

I’ve read that book over and over again, because its such an enjoyable book. This morning, i woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. I started reading Indigo Blue, right down until half past four (well, that’s what my dodgy clock said, anyway!) I really admire the way the words wind up together to make great phrases, like “Mum looked sad, lonely, young” and I’ve started using that myself in stories. I have all of your books, except for Driftwood. You are definitely a great author! 10/10 for all the books! Bye!
Zara, age 12
All of Cathy Cassidys books are amazing- especially this one. the plot is sooo good i couldn’t put the book down. it really appealed to me and it was the first book of Cathy’s i had ever read. Indigo blue is a really good book because it is about family and people splitting up. It givs you a really good message. It is really difficult to have your parents splitting but you will have to get over it and have a good life with out your mum or dad dont let them spoil your fun. Indigo blue is a really good book to read and it is really exciting and has a really good plot and i couldnt but the book down once i have read it. Well i finished it in about a day!!!!

Anushri, age 11
Indigo Blue tells the story of 11 year old Indie who has to go and live in a boring flat with her mum and baby sister Misti. This book is so gripping and captiviting, I literally finished it in two days. It teaches everyone how fortunate they are and how to be positive.
Amber, age 13
this book is amazing. i have read it about a million times[more likely 5-8]. i think this book reflects true problems in this world. i know a family of three who as had the same experience as indigo[but this indego was younger] i will not go into detail because i don’t feel it’s my palace to.
anyway i’m sure people who have read this book will hopefully realize what people are really like [and what mothers and children have to do to escape just to lead a normal and my heart bleeds for them and i hope they find peace and sanctuary.]
this book sets an atmosphere of sadness yet it throws random things a the reader and you never know whats going to happen next[i didn’t] and it’s to perfect and amazing for words. well done cathy your amazing
Bethany, age 11
I couldn’t put it down…as good as Jacqueline Wilson.I loooved this book and I hope the rest of the books are as good as this. (: <3 Keep writing!
Charlotte,, age 11
This book was amazing, and like the front cover states “highly adictive” this book is highly adictive, I could not put it down. It was the first Cathy Cassidy book that I had read and after I finished it reading it from my schools library I decided that I HAD to get the rest of her collection.
Bethany, age 13
it is really well written for any ages to understand i got really into the book and read it in about 2 days i was that ingroused it is about a girl whos family is fallin apart but then she moves away with her mum in a really small house and the dad they are running away from decides to follow them and then asks the mum whether she wants to come to dinner so she does and in the end max beats her up and does really bad damage but then he gets put in prison and the family recover and thats the end of my review
Anna B, age 11
I loved your book and i found it really interesting. It was the first book i read and i am looking forward to reading some of your other books.xx
Alice, age 11
I thought that Jacqueline Wilson was brilliant, but Cathy Cassidy is the new best author EVER! Indigo Blue is fantastic because she goes through problems with Jo girls often face, and it gives the right answer so anybody in that situation can read the book and deal with it. It’s so easy to become friends with Indie because she suffers having to care for Misti and her mum, hide from Max and ignore Jo, but she makes even the most upsetting bits funny.
Olivia, age 11
My review of this book is outstanding. Indigo Blue is one of those books that you get more into the more you read it. The excitement builds and builds and never stops. It’s quite a sad story at times but the characters in this book stay strong and it’s all just a bit topsy tirvy but that’s my favourite type of book so I was really satisfie with this book and it’s at quite a good price aswell so there fab and afordable.
Shellie, age 11
i thought this was a fab book i just couldn’t stop reading it!!!!!!i really really really enjoyed it:)xxxxxxx
Laura, age 12

Tabitha, age 11
I think Indigo Blue was brilliant because it really got to my heart. I feel for Indie because I have 2 little sisters and 1 little brother so I know what it’s like to look after them. And also her friend Jo wasn’t really there for her when she was down. I’m glad Indie made a new friend who actually acted like a friend.
Evie, age 11

Hapsa, age 10
It is such a good book.
Where did you get the ideas from? Is it hard being a writer. It is for me. There was this writing competition at school. They gave a little extract and we had to carry it on. We had to enter and I had no ideas. So i went to the library and read one or two books. I think it was some of yours. And got some ideas. I’m honest that i didn’t copy. I wrote and wrote and wrote and guess what, when the winers came, it took quite long but finally, I WON.
I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. THANKS SO MUCH, YOU GAVE ME A LOT OF IDEAS FOR ANOTHER WRITING COMP. YOUR THE BEST, LOVE HAPSA.

Cathy, even though I Love too read I have never written a book reveiw before :O can yooh beleive it? I got your first book when my mum came back from work one day when i was 12 and handed me your book-Indiago Blue. To be totally honest when I first saw it I turned my nose up at it because i thought that your books were aimed for younger readers, but when I started to read your book Indiago Blue I couldn’t put it down, I was addicted, it just goes to say you can’t judge a book by its cover. Since then I have read all of your books and can not wait until the realese of the next one. I would really love for your books to become films one day, and if you ever need anyone to star in them give me a buzz. I think you writing is amazing and one day if i’m not on the stage maybe i’ll write books. Lots of my friends love your books too and wish you all the best for the future. xox

THAT BOOK WAS GR8!!!
loved it! loved it! loved it!
the book was so different from my usual kind, the way it made me feel inside the book. you felt misti and indies fear and happiness. you felt like slapping Jo and slapping indie for wanting to be her friend and then you feel like hugging her and Aisha and you feel the way indie feels when she is around Shane Taggart.
one of the most heart warming books i have ever read.
we love you miss cassidy!!!
Beckey, age 11
This book was so touching. I read it about a year ago, but it made a huge impact. It was the firs Cathy Cassidy book I ever read, and it was so emotional for me. I know I may just be saying that, being an “emo”, but it did. It shows how life is for some people, and how even when you think your best mates are there for you, they can turn around and stab you in the back before you know what’s coming. Pure and simple, and that can happen to anyone. It did to me.
Ina, age 11

I think this was an enjoyable book and would rate it 8/10 as in some points in the story you know what will happen next. I think indigo is a very interesting character as she has a original life with some good and bad times, for example she goes to school normally but the next day she has bad times as school as she mite get a bad score in her test or something. I didn’t enjoy the ending a lot as it was sad of mum getting a divorce as and I didn’t except that to happen and I don’t like sad endings, I also think this was the saddest part of the book. I would recommend this book to a 9-10 year old as younger would really get the plot. I learned that you should always take the fault when it is your fault.
