Angel Cake is a real page turner. It is an amazing story about a Polish girl called Anya who comes to live in England with her Dad’s work. But will everything work out the way she wants it to?
When Anya’s Dad moves to England to work, he promises Anya, her Mum and her sister that they can join him soon and he sends them gifts of small wooden animals and books about England in the meantime. When the day comes for Anya to leave her home in Krakow, she is excited about her new home but sad to say goodbye to everything she knows and has grown up with. She dreams of her new home, a cottage with roses above the door and of the people she will meet- but life in Liverpool is completely different to life in Krakow.
Her Dad’s business is struggling and so they have to live in a pokey flat above a chippy. School is more like a zoo and the boys and girls are certainly not like those in Poland. But does Dan, a boy who seems to attract trouble, have hidden depths; a nicer side- Anya thinks so. A stolen rat lands Anya, her new friends Kurt and Frankie and mean girl Lily Coldwell in detention. But, as Frankie and Anya trudge home through the rain, they see bad boy Dan, in angel wings, giving away cupcakes. His Mum has opened a new café called Heaven which sells the most beautiful cakes and Dan has to give away vouchers for free cake and sample cupcakes on the opening day to help out. The two girls thought they deserved a treat, a slice of Heaven, so they visited the café. Dan joins the group of people – Anya, Frankie, Kurt and Lily- after giving out all of the vouchers and offers to walk the girls home but will anything happen between Anya and Dan? And is Dan worth the trouble?

Angel Cake is my favorite book because it is so full of feeling, and so fantastic that i read it in less than a day!!!! My favorite charactor is Dan because he is so mysterious and cool and wild!!! My least favorite charactor is Lily because she is so mean and cunning. I love the sound of Heaven and i love the sound of the cakes!!!!! The idea of angel wings is great and they sound so cool!!!! I am really happy that Anya makes friends with Frankie and Kurt and Dan and i love the ending!!!

I thought Angel Cake was a magnificent book. Everyone thinks Dan is a bad-boy but deep down he’s charming and sweet – that’s just what Anya needs in a difficult situation. I love the fact that it is like the saying – never judge a book by its cover. Overall I would give the book a 10/10. It’s a real romantic story!

Angel Cake is fantastic! I couldn’t put it down. The name says it all really – well once you have read the book anyway – and I think the front cover design is amazing! It shows how hard it can be moving to a new school (and new country!) – especially when you speak a different language. Heaven sounded great! I wish there was a cafe like Heaven near me in real life, it would be fab. I also think it proves throughout the story that there is a bit of goodness in everyone, even if only some people can see it. Like the rest of Cathy’s books, Angel Cake was really exciting and enjoyable to read. I would recommend it to everyone.

Zoe B - Dream Teamer!

Fantastic book – one of her best. Now my equal favourite with Ginger Snaps. The story was very unpredictable and if you did guess what was going to happen, there was always a twist to throw you off. I read it in two days and loved every bit. I liked it because it was set in my hometown and, as I’ve been living in Scotland for three years, it reminded me of ‘home’.

I loved the shop and the wonderful descriptions of cake – so good you could actually taste them. There were lots of clever messages in the book, like ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ and ‘something sweet isn’t always the key to happiness’. I’m sure Angel Cake will be a best seller.

But I also loved the romance between Anya and Dan. I thought it was good because usually all the popular girls get the boy they want, but for once it’s someone ordinary. This book was the first book i have ever read of Cathy Cassidy’s. It was really addicting and just impossible to put down. It was one those books were you would never forget it. I think that girls particuarly teens can relate to Anya as she tries to deal with her family’s troubles and on top of that all the stuff she has to deal with at school. I would definetely recommend this book and any other books of Cathys to girls of any ages. Even girls who aren’t particuarly fond of reading tthis book is a book to remember.

I swear each one gets better and better!
Well, first there was Dizzy, it really made you think about what life really is like for some people.
Then there was Indigo Blue, and it was better than Dizzy. It made me think even more, I loved this
Next it was Driftwood, it was so sad in places, but so good as well. I couldn’t put it down!
Scarlett was the best of the first four, and I really felt like I was there in the countryside, like I actually was Scarlett!
Sundae Girl was next, I was crying in the middle of my English lesson in that, and I fell in love with Carter, like I really was Jude!
Then Lucky Star, I loved the way it was from the boys’ point of view, that makes it different from the others, and it linked back to Dizzy. And then it was soooo unexpected!
And then there was Ginger Snaps, I sooo fell in love with Sam as much as Ginger did, and the whole story reminded me of something I went throught once. It made me laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time!
I CANNOT WAIT FOR ANGEL CAKE, every book has got better and better, if any book could possibly beat Ginger Snaps, this would be it!!! I LOVE these books, thank you for hours of great reading xxx

OMG !! I have just finished Angel Cake and i love it !!
I love how Cathy comes up with such awesome characters in her storys.
My fave bit was in the snow near the lake when Dan tells Anya that he wants to be with her, and the kiss in the park on the rainy day.

I also love how Cathy Cassidy is an FANTASTIC writer.
I give this book 5 stars.

The book is about moving to a new country to start a whole new life there, i feel sorry for Anya as she starts her new school and everyone is not very nice, and she cannot understand a thing. I especially liked Kurt in the book, he kept a mouse called Cheesy and him and Frankie were great friends to Anya. Its romantic how Anya and Dan get along and it’s funny reading about Lily Cadwell get’s jealous. I loved the idea of the book, and it’s my favourite book out of every single book in the world!

I think the one of the best things about this book is the way that things turn out. Anya is expecting big things from England and when she arrives, she is very dissapointed. Yet as life goes on for Anya, she seems to concentrate on the good things about life, and that is what saves her life in liverpool.

Angel Cake was an amazing book. I thought it had a great story line and some amazing characters. I loved Anya and Dan too. Anya was really shy but became a lovely confident girl with great friends. Dan was a bad boy in school hours but was an angel outside of school. I am sure that Dan was an angel inside all the time though. It is a book worth reading.

Angel Cake is an attention grabbing book about a polish girl who comes to live in england. She gets bullyied as she cannot speak the language but in the end it all works out and she finds romance in a boy who is very mysterious. The boy is naughty at school but she finds him wearing angel wings in the middle of the street handing out cakes. Who would think that they might find a boy like that? At the end everything was about to go pear shaped but it turns around in the end. Hope you like it.

Hi everyone! I LOVE Angel Cake because it’s such a new and interesting story with a twist with different nationalities! I love this book, also, because it’s the newest and it gives me a rather different perspective on Polish people and I get to learn about their culture and I especially like the spzer house Anya’s father made (I can’t remember how to spell it). It must be very special and important for people from Poland and I’d like to learn more!

It was a bit like a few of your other books in a way with a dreamy boy in it and a girl falling for him etc…so i think in the future you could put even more original ideas into your stories e.g. something about a cook longing to meet and work with their cooking idol. WowWowWow!!!!!!! This has to be my fav cathy cassidy book! i love the way that dan is bad but changes for anna. it gives you mixed feeling because theres a happy bit then a sad bit but in the end it’s happy when they all settle down and go into a buisiness with dans mum. It just shows you cant judge people by what they look like. Poor Anya was new and didnt start off well- she didnt even talk! Just because hse is from Norway she was really sweet and kind to everyone. Well i live in australia so i’ve been lucky enough to already read the book. And i absolutely love it. It was the first Cathy Cassidy book i read and started by addiction to all her books. I heard from Cathy herself at the sydney young writers festival about this amazing book! She read the 2nd chapter and everyone in that stadium wanted to read it( even some of the boys). Any girl would be able to relate to Anya and that’s what makes it special. When i read it i was instantly capivated and wanted to hear more about Dan, her friends and just all her lifes problems. This book is a book not to forget!

I loved Angel cakes!! It is sorta hard when you move from one country then to another but she meets the boy and then life seems better. I thought it was a excilent book.
