I’m back from my tour to China, and TOTALLY fell in love with the place… Beijing is just amazing! I met some very cool kids, saw some incredible sights and loved every minute… thanks to everyone at the BOOKWORM FESTIVAL for inviting me out there!
I didn’t have much spare time, but I still managed to see the Forbidden City, Tianamen Square and the Great Wall of China… whoa! I have a niece living in Beijing, so she was able to show me round – big hugs, Tara! While I was there, I filmed a programme for Chinese TV, ate some awesome veggie Chinese dishes, bumped into some friends from Scotland – what were the chances of that – and even met one of my all-time heroes, the rasta poet Benjamin Zephaniah.
All that, and it snowed, too… so hard that my flight home was delayed by 5 hours! Eek! I’ll post some pics so you can see what I got up to…
Now I’m back, I am very excited because it’s almost launch-time for the paperback version of Angel Cake… watch out for it in a shop near you from April 1st! There will be LOTS of CC books for you to read this year, but if you haven’t read Angel Cake make sure you don’t miss out… and remember, life is sweet!
I hope you are having a fab time in Bejjing! Hope to see you soon,
Wow! China sounds awesome! :D It definitely looks interesting. Angel Cake is my favourite CC book, and it'll be good when it is coming out in paperback, but I've already got the book! xD
I've just had a peek at the pics and it looks beautiful! I hope I get to go there someday. I'm glad you had a nice time!! I agree, Angel Cake is my fave too, and I've just lent it to a friend and she say she can't drag her eyes of it! ixxxxxxxx

The snow was cool… and perfect writing weather, ‘cos I was snowed in part of the time and writing Cherry Crush! What did YOU get up to in the Big Freeze? I have ten signed books to give away to the readers who send the coolest snow pics!
This fab snowman, sent by Shannon & Lauren B, got me thinking… I’ve also been sent pics of a snow dragon (thanks, Ana), a snowball fight (thanks, Kate!), and much more! I will post the best on the Your Photos section on the YOU page in a fortnight, and send the ten winners a signed book and a winter warmer hot-choc.

Put your pic onto the computer & save as a jpeg, then fill in this form with ‘SNOW JOKE’ where it says’What is your picture of?’. A WHOLE NEW YEAR...
I’m writing this on the very last day of 2009… the last day of the DECADE in fact! I hope you all have a fun and fabby New Year and make the most of every opportunity that 2010 brings you… go for it!
2009 was a good year in lost of ways for me… I got to meet my fans in Australia, Singapore & New Zealand in May, I launched the first ever National Best Friends Day in July and wrote like crazy in between times! The year had its sad, tricky and low points too, of course, but I hope that on the whole 2009 was a good year for you, too.
I have a feeling that 2010 is going to be even better. I love that moment when the year turns and a whole new year lies before you, like a field full of snow, silent and perfect, with no footprints upon it yet (I know, I know, but I am writing this surrounded by fields of snow, so it seemed like a good image!). For me, it’ll be a busy year… Angel Cake goes paperback in April; Daizy Star & The Pink Guitar comes out in June; and Cherry Crush is out in September. There will be a few little surprises along the way, too… let’s just say there will be plenty for you to read this year!
What were your best/worst bits of 2009? Are you making any resolutions for 2010? And how are you celebrating the New Year? Let me know by posting your comments through the link below. Happy New Year!!!
my best part of 2009 was making heaps of new friends that r now my besties! They are even boys!I loved having them over and laughing in MSN!
the worst part would have to be when my best friend and i broke up.
My resoloution is to have even MORE fun with my mates and stuff!
Happy New Year everyone

Hi Cathy! I'm hoping to have the flips ds game for christmas! I'm soooo chuffed because i can't afford magazines :( i couldn't get cupcakes and kisses, but because Borders bookshop is closing down, i saw it on the shelves and i had the book for 10p! I don't know what it was doing on the shelves... I think it's worth £100000000000! I love your books. I especially love lily's story in cupcakes and kisses. I have every single book of yours. I had Dizzy, Indigo Blue, Scarlett, Driftwood, Sundae Girl and Lucky Star for christmas last year, and i bought all the others with my own money! Have a FAB-U-LOUS christmas.

CHRISTMAS IS COOL!!!
OK, it’s ALMOST December, and that means just one thing… Christmas is coming! It’s my fave time of year. I love seeing the fairy lights twinkling in the dark streets, the tinsel, the Christmas trees, the stockings hung over the fireplace. I love the smell of cinnamon and satsumas and warm mince pies… sigh.
Christmas traditions are fab – I loved researching Polish Christmas traditions for Angel Cake, and loved writing the Christmassy bits in that book, too! The best thing of all about Christmas, though, is spending time with special friends and family… and taking time out to show each other how much we care. That’s cool!
What are YOU planning for Christmas this year? We asked the DREAM TEAM readers for their Christmas ideas – check out what they have to say below and on the DREAM TEAM page! Don’t forget to send in YOUR fave things about Christmas through the comments link below… and of course, let me know which CC books would be on your Christmas list!
Oh, and I have a very special Christmas surprise coming for you all soon… watch this space!
If you had to pick 1 Cathy Cassidy book, which one would you ask for for Christmas?
Angel Cake – Even though I already have it, it’s a great Christams gift because it’s the latest one and it’s sweet, like Christmas!
Other than CC books (of course!) what else are you really hoping for this year for Christmas?
This year, I am really hoping to get a microphone for Christmas.
What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
My favourite thing about Christmas is the excitement of everyone being happy and how everywhere you go it's constantly buzzing! Also spending the day with my family and celebrating Christmas for what it actually is! But as well, the presents make the whole day a bit enjoyable!!!
