Older readers

Hi everybody,

I can’t believe I have fans as far away as New Zealand, but Sinead wrote to asking me this…

“I was wondering if you could write a book based on an older character, 14 or 15, so that your older readers will be able to relate more. I think you are a fantastic author and have read all of your books except for Sundae Girl, which is not yet out in New Zealand. Your books are the perfect excuse to daydream!”

Well, good news Sinead! The book after Sundae Girl is called Lucky Star, and is all about Mouse from Dizzy when he is 14. So I think older readers will like it lots – and younger ones too! Lucky Star will be out in August!

“If you don’t believe in wishes, can they still come true?”I wouldn’t know,as i totally believe in them.Your book, SCARLETT , helped me over-come my fear of asking my secret crush(of 8 months!) if he would go with me. Iwoz reding SCARLETT in the school library when i caught him looking over my shoulder. He said he woz only trying to see wot kinda stuff i woz into.I had got to the part where KIAN kissed SCARLETT !!! He said i woz really enthralled in the story and, before i could stop myself,i blurted “well, its dead romantic int it?”I felt myself going bright red but he wozn’t too bovvered. I looked at the floor and asked him then an there!!! He went red and said he’d wanted to ask me earlier but thought i’d say no!!! So thanks to you an your AMAZING writing, i am now gone way the sweetest boy in my year!!!!THANKS SO MUCH TO CATHY CASSIDY !!!!!

How do I find the time?

Hiya everyone,

Emily wrote to me asking…

“I’ve just been on your website & found out about sundae girl. it looks fun! I read shout all the time & love your answers to the problems. how on earth do you work for shout & write books at the same time?”

Emily, I’m pretty busy, but I’d like to go on doing the agony aunt pages for Shout – I like helping people, although I can’t answer personal problems here on the website! The books take up most of my time, though – I’m planning my 7th book now!

I really love your books. I especially like Dizzy and Scarlett as they are really vivid. I love the fact that most of your characters have really unusual names. I was disappointed when I finished your last book as there were no more left to read!

Hayley, Australia says...

I have recently read your book SCARLETT (twice, i looved it sooo much). What I admire about your books is the romance side of things. I think every girl wants to live in a cute cottage, have an adorable little sister, a mysterious boy after you, and have a real rockin induvidual style. Now, every time i go into a book store i always ask if there are any new books of yours out. I’ve placed an order for 3 of your books and am still waiting for SUNDAE GIRL to come out in Australia. Thanks for filling my afternoons with pleasure with your amazing books!

Is Dizzy based on a true experience?

Meeta wrote to ask me….

“I absolutely love dizzy, it is a great book. i just wanted to know how you came up with the character dizzy – is this a true experience?”

Well Meeta, it’s great that you’re loving Dizzy! Dizzy is not based on a true experience, Meeta, although I had lost of traveller friends and have always wanted to set a story in that world. The name came from a girl I met at a traveller wedding, Dizzy was a nickname for Denise, but it stuck in my mind and I knew I’d use it in a story one day!

Emily says...

I got Dizzy for my birthday from a friend. I didn’t know if it would be good but when I started to read I got hooked. So did my mum! Dizzy is an amazing book with a great storyline – I would recommend it to anyone!!!!

Bethany says...

I recently have finished reading Dizzy. Let’s start off by saying how amazing that book really is. I laughed and cried. Please, please, please create a sequel! It was as if I were there, just sitting back and watching the whole adventure take place. The novel had its romantic parts too, which I thought was just the icing on the cake.
